prototype in leather

Ah, and here we have my ageless wrist modeling prototype b - leather. I do like the look of the leather but it does seem sort of spare.

prototype bracelet made with psuedo-suede yarn. I'll use satin cord for the real thing...maybe even some leather.

Bead Dazzler

So, as part of that whole 'design empire' concept I'm putting together, I made some ceramic beads. Well, it's more apt to say I decorated some ceramic beads. The beads themselves came from Fire Mountain Beads.

I'm thinking I'll do leather strap bracelets with them...or maybe pendants on chains..hmmm. I'm new to the whole making jewelry concept.

New year's list part deux

Next on my list of to-dos is to become a fabulously successful designer a la Kimora Lee Simmons of Baby Phat. That shouldn't be too hard, right?

Recovered - a story of triumph

For the first time ever, I re-upholstered something. I'm pretty darn pleased at myself for it, too. My DH got me a 1920's maple dining room set for Christmas (early) and I've been working on restoring it ever since. I should have taken a picture of the sad shape we received it in but anyway.

This is the original sad faded and ugly condition of the chair seats.

and here is the new!

Inspired by Wee Wonderfuls

Inspired by Hilary's super cute carollers, my daughter and I painted up some cute spool gals. I had to order the candle cups online so I'll have super cute painted wooden cuties soon.

Ornament Swap - the saga continues

Today's ornament and card came from the talented Paula of The Grassy Garden in sunny Australia. I love the budgy birdy jingle ornament and the sweet plum pudding card.

I love the interwebs

In my capacity as a blog-lurker, I've happened upon some fantastic things. One of which is the strange and beautiful Green Bean Baby. The amazing Ellia not only made me a special nintendo paper illustration card, she sent it with a huge bar of Ghiradelli chocolate bar! What a doll.

I've also gotten involved Freshly Blended's ornament swap. I received my first two ornaments today.

So far, I'm pleased with the girls. I hope to get a whole line of gals in every hair color/ethnicity when all is said and done.

I'm thinking of switching to white resin instead of poly-clay for the pendant though. I think they would be sturdier and more uniform in shape.

Full. Of. Crap.

sweater protected

Here's my little ninja in resin brooch form. Ain't he cute? I mean, fierce?

Just a reminder, all of my images/artwork is copyrighted.
I know some people who are having problems with their designs being stolen from their blog and wanted to put out a little heads up.

Illustration Friday - Clear

It's a mime trapped in an invisible box. How's that for 'clear'?

This is an homage to my daughter's halloween costume She was the first mime that I didn't want to punch. (Joking...I've never punched a mime. mimes are people, too.)

I'm going to have some cards professionally printed featuring my doodles and I can't decide where to start. I have a series of 'girl' illustrations but I can't decide who gets to go first. So, I put it to you: Where would you begin?

Prototype Pendants

Inspired by The Black Apple's new pendants, I decided to try my hand at some pendants. The prototypes are polymer clay but the finished product will be ceramic. What do you think of the concept?
These pictures really highlight how lumpy my prototypes are. Maybe I should use a pasta maker to roll out the clay?

Only you could be so bold...

Here is the aforementioned Princess Leia hat that I knit for a friend. It's adult sized so it's kind of big on my child-sized child.
I decided to wing it instead of using the pattern.

Ahhh, sweet quiet.

The doubt monster

I'm being attacked by the doubt monster. I'm working on a big order for an important client and I'm half-panicked that she'll reject it as being sub-par. How do you keep the doubt monster at bay?

Friday Illustration - on a Tuesday

Okay, so I jumped the gun on this one but I was excited to do my first Friday Illustration. The theme was 'farm' so I chose to do the littlest farmer...a worm harvesting a strawberry.
