Custom Mom

Huzzah! Custom Mom goes online Tuesday the 1st and I can hardly wait. I've listed about 22 items (tees and bibs) to sell. I'm working on some Christmas bib designs. Check it out and be sure to check the KiWi Cuties items. Support your sister crafters.

To the left is my lovely niece modeling the 'Stick With Me, Kid' popsicle bib.

Heather Ross is back!

Heather Ross of Munki Munki fame is back with a new line. I've been stalking Cia's Palette waiting for it and JCaroline got some in the meantime. Hurray!

Unfortunately, JCaroline doesn't seem to have the gnomes.

Inventory pictures

I took pictures of my inventory to post on my etailer. I really hope the picture quality is up to par. My digital camera is wicked old.

KiWi Cuties

okay, ready to take the plunge. I've completed the tee portion of my first run of KiWi Cuties. I just hope they sell. It would be so gratifying to actually do something productive with my artwork after all these years.
Of course, I had to change the tag illustration last night because my daughter got her hair all cut off since I originally doodled it. I forgot to put that clause in her modeling contract.

the out of control puns

While brainstorming with my sister about cute ideas for baby designs, she came up with the concept of 'The OB' (a take on The OC tv show)

Another Threadless Design

Wonder why that girl never called again?

I have designed my tags for my product release (hopefully by November 1st)

Naturally, I modeled the girl after my own daughter.

My Paper Crane

My Paper Crane has the factory restocked. Hurray. My daughter periodically cruises the shop looking for things to buy. And nagging at me that I won't explain to her what the tampon doll is....

Now, I have Franz Ferdinand in my head....(find me and follow me through corridors and factories...)

Dawn of the Knitted Dead

Electric Biscuit's hilarious knitted zombies are killing me. I'd love to see the whole movie re-enacted with these dudes

How do you deal with the nagging doubt? That little voice that tells you that you might not be good enough to actually make something of your work. How do you tell him to simmah da nah?

I love Halloween. It's one of my favorite holidays. I made this design especially for my kid.

The bidness

This is a huge scary leap for me...starting a business. I'm not a passive person but I'm not a risk-taker. It just seemed like after all these years of drawing, doodling, designing and drafting that I needed to do something more productive with my work. Not that I'm against the whole 'art for art's sake' concept but my later work is less 'art' and more 'illustration'. It has a childlike quality. A cuteness, if you will..and I think the world today needs more cute.

This little cutie was inspired by the wonderful bags made by Molly Chicken.

I was thinking about looking into paypal as an ordering option. Do any of you use paypal to sell your wares?

Penelope's Draw a Witch contest

I encourage everyone to enter Penelope's Draw a Witch contest.
The above image is my entry. For the girly witch in all of us...

the strangeness

the strangest thing about starting a blog is knowing that no one is reading it. I'm sure that it'll reach new levels of weirdness when some starts reading it though...

So, let's start with Softies. I started making dolls as part of LoobyLu's Month of Softies. Since then, I've made a small community of dolls.
I've experimented with button eyes and felt eyes. I think I like the felt eyes the best.

Ninjas for fresh ninja action

This is my first ninja tee. I originally created these little guys to do my dirty work on Instant Messenger but saw they had potential beyond battling the occasional dinosaur or pontif. I'm going into mass production on them for Christmas presents for the fam.

Currently, this design is selling for $10 a shirt. email me at if you wish to order one.

Some pictures

Because, what is blog without pictures? A pretty darn big disappointment...
Here's an example of a KiWi babies bib. I just started selling these through a local shop....and I mean 'just started' as in today.
Eventually, I hope to expand into onesies and t-shirts.

And so it begins...

I've resisted this for a long time now...blogging, that is. I was afraid of neglecting it and having it die from blog-rot as so many of them do. I was apprehensive of trolls and other mythical creatures setting up homes under my bridges. I was also worried that no one would want to read anything I had to say (type?)
However, since I've turned my crafting hobby into a cottage industry, I felt that blogging was the next step. It was time for me to join the community that I've been silently learning from lo these many months.

Netizens, I give you KiWi.
